A Look at Scheduling Tech in the Oil and Gas Industry
Indecision is the enemy of progress
In this, the first of a short series of blogs, I will reflect on lessons I have learned over almost four decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, an industry that has been very kind to me, my family, and many others who have enjoyed bringing energy to the world.
Over time, I feel our industry has been transitioning from businesses run by “larger than life” leaders with the skill to make the right decision using less than all the information required to being run by leaders based on Business Intelligence in place of gut-feeling. The industry’s response has been to look for ways to capture more data more accurately and more frequently. Has this tsunami of information made decision making easier or more effective?
The measurement sector of the oil and gas is an example of a service industry that has done a great job delivering on this trend to more data. However, if when you deliver this data, you can say, “If this were my business, I would ….” then you are delivering value to your customers rather than just a service. Data, although necessary, is not the final result. It is information to be used to guide decisions that must be made.
I recently joined the board of Critical Control Energy Services. I am impressed by how, as early as 2005, they recognized the need to leverage software to help convert data into meaningful and useful action guidance.
Critical Control Energy Services has been providing innovative technology for the oil and gas industry for 15 years. Our goal is to combine long-standing solutions with leading-edge software, providing businesses with the solutions they need to optimize their processes. Read on to learn more about how one of these, our scheduling software, can save you time and money!
A New Way to Schedule
Current methods of scheduling prevent transparency between service providers and producers. The producer knows what they need to have done, and they communicate it to the service provider through a manual form. The service provider builds the schedule manually or through their system. Has this process ever resulted in missing deadlines or wasted trips to the field?
At Critical Control Energy Services, we allow everything to be scheduled and viewed online. This helps increase transparency between the producers and service providers, providing you with seamless communication.
Saving You Time and Money
Previously, oil and gas companies monitored all the data on spreadsheets—and often entered it manually. But if a company has 1000 wells to manage, handling all the scheduling on a spreadsheet can be confusing. At Critical Control Energy Services, all you need to do is set the wells up—and our software will take care of the rest. ProTrend self-schedules the wells automatically, considering the frequency at which each individual well needs to be tested.
The Future of the Industry
The oil and gas industry can be slow to change, but we can optimize operations by adopting more automated processes, saving time and money. At Critical Control Energy Services, our goal is to centralize all data into one easy dashboard accessible to clients, no matter where they are. Track, schedule, visualize and manage your entire fluid analysis process from a single repository.
At Critical Control Energy Services, we know that having the right information at the right time can help business owners make educated decisions quickly, saving time and money. That’s why we’ve developed a toolbox of measurement software to give you all the data you need—in one place! Visit our website to learn more or get in touch to book a free consultation.
